Welcome to the Sierra Leone Medical and Dental Association (SLMDA), a dynamic organization representing over 900 dedicated medical and dental practitioners throughout Sierra Leone. Our members are spread across all sixteen districts of the country, bringing together a diverse spectrum of professionals in the field. From Consultants and Researchers to Academicians and Specialists, as well as other Residents, Medical Officers, and House Officers all registered under the Medical and Dental Council of Sierra Leone, our membership encompasses a wide range of expertise and experience.

The Sierra Leone Medical and Dental Association is an organisation of medical doctors and dentists committed to the enhancement of the professional and personal development of its members, thereby enabling them to contribute optimally to the health and well-being of society.

Our members serve in various sectors, including the public and private sectors, faith-based organizations, quasi-Government institutions, academia, and research. This diverse representation allows us to have a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare landscape in Sierra Leone, and it equips us to address the various challenges and opportunities that arise in our profession.
Committed to Excellence
At SLMDA, we are committed to promoting excellence in the medical and dental fields. We provide a wide range of advisory services, including expertise in health sector reform and rationalization. Through our continuing medical education seminars and workshops, we ensure that our members stay updated with the latest advancements in healthcare, enabling them to deliver top-notch services to the community.
Funding for Progress
Our activities are financed through multiple channels, including monthly membership subscriptions, symposia, and sponsorships from various organizations, including local and international NGOs; and other local organizations and businesses. These funds are essential in supporting our initiatives and enabling us to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare sector.
Operational Hub
Our administrative office is conveniently located at the Medical and Dental Council of Sierra Leone, New England Ville. Here, our dedicated team, comprising an Administrator and an office assistant, ensures the smooth functioning of the Association and supports our members in their professional endeavors.
Non-Profit Commitment
SLMDA operates as a registered non-profit organization. Our activities are directed by elected and appointed officers who serve our members and the community. Our Executive convenes periodically to deliberate on matters of significance to the Association. We also are involved in health screening endeavors, public education through the radio program "Wetin D Docta Say" and various other charity events.
The General Assembly
The highest decision-making body within SLMDA is the General Assembly. This esteemed body convenes during our Annual General Meetings, held in different parts of the country. These meetings provide a platform for open dialogue, knowledge sharing, and decision-making that steer our Association toward achieving its goals.
